The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team’s season has not gone anywhere close to what they hoped. More than 40 games into the season, the Huskers still have a losing record and got absolutely hammered on Friday night by the Maryland Terapins.
However, Will Bolt’s crew isn’t done fighting just yet. After losing the first game of the weekend series, Ty Horn put the team on his back on Saturday afternoon and dealt six shutout innings en route to a 7-2 win. That victory put the Cornhuskers at 20-23 overall and 8-12 in the Big Ten. They’ll look to move closer to .500 in both on Sunday.
Nebraska Cornhuskers draft drought ends
With no Nebraska Cornhuskers players getting drafted in the first, second or third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, things got a bit uncomfortable considering no NU player had been drafted since 2023. However, fans can relax a bit as Ty Robinson was selected early in the fourth round.
Eventually tight end Thomas Fidone was also taken, marking two Nebraska football players drafted. That’s hardly a wave of selections but it’s better than zero. And the future is bright, talent wise.
Ty Robinson gets tons of love
What with Robinson being the first Husker to get drafted since 2023, there was quite a bit of fanfare. That included his former position coach, Terrance Knighton send him support, saying the Eagles “got a dog” when they took him.
That was followed by a video making the rounds on social media showing former Huskers and now future Eagles teammate Cam Jurgens finding out while he was out and about that Robinson was headed to Philly.
John Bullock inks UDFA deal
Not as many Huskers got drafted as head coach Matt Rhule hoped, but a few will still get their chance at the NFL. That includes linebacker John Bullock, who was signed by the Tampa Bay Bucs. That means he’ll be able to study at the wing of Lavonte David.
Shedeur Sanders schadenfreude
There were few things as entertaining to watch unfold as the saga that occurred when it took five rounds for a team to finally draft Shedeur Sanders.
Kind of sort of has the look like the owner made the call pic.twitter.com/4XbyfIH4Bs

Nebraska Cornhuskers fans have no love lost for the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and watching analysts freak out as each draft pick came and went was pretty damn funny. And then our long national nightmare ended when the Cleveland Browns selected him. And boy, did they look thrilled about it.
