Now that the 2025 NFL Draft has come and gone, it’s time for the next phase for several Nebraska football players who want to try their hand at a professional career.

With Ty Robinson and Thomas Fidone the only two Huskers who got the call during the draft, there will be plenty of teams that will look to grab guys like Tommi Hill on an undrafted free agent contract.

Nebraska linebacker John Bullock gets NFL shot alongside Lavonte David in Tampa Bay

Count John Bullock among that group. The former Nebraska football linebacker has officially signed an UDFA with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Interestingly enough, that contract means that he’ll get to learn how to play at the next level from one of the best linebackers to ever do it.

Former Husker Lavonte David is expected to return for another season with Tampa in 2025 putting, the finishing touches on a career that should eventually land him in the Hall of Fame. But before that happens, Bullock can get some serious pointers.

The former Husker defender stood up and shone bright under head coach Matt Rhule. In 2023, he recorded 50 tackles, 2 passes defended and a forced fumble. This past season he recorded 70 tackles, 10 TFL, an interception return for a touchdown and 5 passes defended.

The two years prior to Rhule’s arrival, Bullock was mostly a special teams ace who had 6 career tackles.

Bullock, like all undrafted free agents is certainly not a lock to land a full time job with the Bucs. However, the former Nebraska football star has his shot and just needs to take advantage.
