The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team has had a rollercoaster of a season so far. That rollercoaster is back on the upswing after it hit its lowest low last week. The big question now is whether it can keep the positive momentum into the weekend.

The basketball team has also had a bit of an up and down run, after winning the CBC Tounament and winning four games in a row to do it, Fred Hoiberg’s crew is on the upswing as well. And a new transfer addition certainly fits in that upswing.

Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball gets big win

Will Bolt and company seemed like they were on the upswing when they took two-of-three from Oregon State two weekends ago. However, they followed those wins up with losses to Omaha and Creighton and things seemed to be bottoming out. Then they took two-of-three from Rutgers last weekend for their first Big Ten series win.

And on Tuesday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers managed to knock off Big 12-leading Kansas Jayhawks 7-5. Now the Huskers are eying a big series over the weekend at Iowa, who is near the top of the Big Ten standings. Another series win at least solidifies their standing in the conference and allows them to talk about making a run in the B1G tournament.

Jamarques Lawrence comes home

Fred Hoiberg got his third transfer player of the offseason on Tuesday in the form of Jamarques Lawrence. The guard left NU after last offseason and went to Rhode Island. Now he’s back and ready to try and lead the Cornhuskers back to the NCAA Tournament.

Football target moves up commitment date

Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team are thought to be having a good run, recruiting-wise, and that getting the pledge of 2027 quarterback target Trae Taylor could certainly be a feather in the cap.

It’s clear he’s decided on his team, or is very close to doing so considering he just moved up the date he’s giving his commitment from June to May 1. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are thought to at least be in contention.
