Nebraska Cornhuskers news: Another I-80 embarrassment, Scott Frost whining, more

Nebraska’s loss to Creighton caps another frustrating chapter in Will Bolt’s rivalry record.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team just cannot quite find a way to hold anything resembling momentum and that might end up being the epitaph of the Will Bolt era. Bolt could never get his team up for that and mid-week games and in-state rivalry games.

Tuesday night marked the end of the I-80 Series with Ed Servais at the helm of Creighton. The Jays head coach is retiring after this season and he managed to get the last laugh on his Lincoln counterpart by beating the Huskers 8-7 on Tuesday night.

With the loss, the Nebraska Cornhuskers fell back under .500 on the season at 24-25 and lost the season series to Creighton. Bolt’s squad is 1-3 this season against in-state rivals after going 1-3 last year and 0-3 last year against Servais’ squad.

Scott Frost claims “other people” was the reason he left UCF

Former Nebraska coach Scott Frost loves to claim that he won’t talk about his time in Lincoln. And then, whenever he says that in an interview, he usually complains about something that happened at NU in the next breath.

That happened again in a recent interview where he claimed that he never wanted to leave UCF for the Cornhuskers and it was “other people” who pushed him out the door. And of course, what fans love to hear is that a coach can’t assert himself in a high stress situation. Good luck, UCF!

Nebraska Cornhuskers coach gets nice ranking in Big Ten

USA Today just recently put out its list of Big Ten coaching power rankings and Matt Rhule being No. 5 on the list is a nice surprise. Granted, Kirk Ferentz being No. 3 seems rather odd.

Jake Meyers off to a good start

Former Nebraska baseball star Jake Meyers is becoming quite the star for the Houston Astros. Over the weekend, the center fielder went 4-for-4 with two homers, a double, and a triple. The only reason he wasn’t able to get a cycle is because he didn’t hit a single.
