The Nebraska football team has had a lot of positive buzz over the last few days. Then the B1G media picked the conference standings.

Scott Frost and the Nebraska football team have been getting a lot of love this week. Apparently, that love does not extend to thinking the Cornhuskers are going to have a great 2018.

Cleveland.com just published its annual Big Ten Media preseason poll and Husker fans got a dash of cold water. It turns out the people that cover the conference the closest think 2018 is going to be a tough year.

Just how tough? Fourth in the Big Ten West tough.

That poll picked Wisconsin to finish first, Iowa to finish second and Northwestern to finish third. The Huskers come in fourth, with Purdue fifth, Minnesota sixth and Illinois seventh.

When it comes to how the votes break down, the Badgers got all 28 first-place votes in the West. That was not the case in the East division.

It should come as no surprise that Ohio State is the team prediction to win the other division and face off against Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game. What might be surprising is that the first place votes are divvied up quite a bit more.

Michigan State, who finished second in the preseason poll, got two first-place votes. Penn State finished third in the poll and did get a first-place vote as well.

The Michigan Wolverines finished fourth in the poll and got 1.5 votes. it appears at least one person split their vote? It’s not entirely sure how that would have worked.

In that division, Maryland finished fifth, Indiana got sixth and Rutgers was predicted to finish last in the Big Ten East. If there is a bit of a bright spot, it is that the Nebraska football team is basically the West division’s version of Michigan since both teams are picked to finish fourth. That makes their matchup during the season even more interesting this fall.
