Nebraska basketball star James Palmer Jr is on a trajectory that would have him getting drafted in the NBA should he stick around one more year.

Nebraska basketball’s James Palmer Jr is getting himself a fair share of media clippings. The guard has put together a fantastic Cinderella season for a Nebrasketball team that is having its own Cinderella season.

Palmer’s performance this season has more than college basketball experts paying attention. The junior guard has found his way onto a new NBA Mock Draft for the 2019 draft.

That means that Jonathan Givony of ESPN doesn’t believe he’s a lock to get drafted this coming draft, but the next one. That’s good news for Huskers fans in a number of ways.

First it seems to be an indication that no matter what happens this year, Palmer should return in order to cement his spot in the NBA. It’s also good because Nebraska simply doesn’t have a history of successful NBA players.

Just like in football, a coach being able to tell a recruit they will be getting groomed for the pros is a heck of a recruiting tool. James Palmer Jr. got listed on this NBA Mock on the same day that another former Tim Miles player in Andrew White was officially promoted to the Atlanta Hawks from his G League team.

Should Palmer make the league, and White manages to stick in a few years, it would be the first time the Huskers have had two players in the league at the same time since the Danny Nee years.

The Mock Draft has Palmer drafted 44th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers. ESPN says they figured out the 2019 draft order (which hasn’t been set officially yet) using ESPN’s Future Power Rankings and Basketball Power Index were used to project the draft order.

While this means that James Palmer might not actually go to the Los Angeles Clippers, their draft expert believes the Nebraska basketball star is going to have the talent and tools to not only make it to the NBA but get drafted.
