The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been talking about the fullback a lot this year, and now the focus is on one fullback in particular.

The Nebraska football team has gotten a ton of love for bringing back the fullback. Since they’ve showed that it’s not just talk and will be a big part of the offense, it’s got people even more excited. One of those guys who is hoping to get a ton of action this year is one Barret Liebentritt.

The Notre Dame transfer has gotten a lot of attention so far in fall camp while players and coaches alike talk about how the fullback will make the Nebraska Cornhuskers a better team overall.

The Omaha World-Herald wrote about how the transfer, who is from Nebraska, is grabbing notice as a “tough dude.”

Brice Matthews’s big day

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers star Brice Matthews got off to a rough start to his professional baseball career. However he’s coming around quickly and on Thursday he had his arguably best game as a pro.

Matthews is hitting .375 in the month of August and in his last game he went 1-for-4 with a walk, and a walk-off RBI single.

R.I.P for Nebraska Cornhuskers great

Last week, Husker Nation lost one of its all-time soccer greats. Kari Uppinghouse, the school’s first All-American in 1996 passed away at the age of 48. She was the Big 12 player of the year and a part of the US National Team Camp. Kari also went on to play professional soccer in New York.

Nebraska women log another win

While the news around the Nebraska men’s basketball team has been mostly negative of late, the women’s team is rocking and rolling along in an exhibition tournament in Greece. Alexis Markowski produced her second consecutive double-double with game-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Nebraska women’s basketball team to a 111-48 win over the Patras All Stars at Promitheas Park on Thursday.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers conclude their three-game tour of Greece on Monday, Aug. 7 against the Crete All Stars at 11 a.m. (CT).
