The Nebraska baseball team has its work cut out for it when it comes to Tyler Palmer.

As we barrel towards the first game of the Nebraska baseball season, thoughts have turned away from recruiting for the most part. It appears the Husker coaches are going to have to spend a bit of time working for the future when it comes to Columbus Scotus player Tyler Palmer.

Palmer is considered one of the better prospects in the 2020 class in Nebraska. Division II schools have been beating down his door for a while now.

As the Omaha World-Herald reports, the first division one offer came from the Cornhuskers in January. Despite his in-state school being the first of the big wig programs to give him an offer, Palmer is holding out for better.

He told the newspaper that while he’s thankful for the offer his dream school is Arizona. Palmer said that he hopes the offer will be coming at some point. To his credit, he’s made no bones about the fact that if they offer, he will be leaving the state of Nebraska behind.

“Nothing against Nebraska, but my dream school has always been Arizona,” he said. “I’ve watched them win championships at the College World Series growing up and as a baseball player the warm weather helps.”

Palmer, who is a pitcher and an outfielder by trade has a number of unofficial visits on the docket. He has already looked at Creighton and Nebraska and he’s slated for an unofficial visit to Kansas State.

For now, the Nebraska baseball target is holding out hope his dream team will come calling. It sounds like the Huskers have quite a bit of work to do if they want to sway Tyler Palmer towards staying home.
