One of the things that has been the most impressive about the Trae Taylor story is that, despite committing far earlier than he needed to, it’s clear the quarterback prospect put a great deal of thought into why he chose the Nebraska football program. That level of thought seems to hint that even if other schools come calling, it will be hard to pull him away.

The latest sign of why Taylor is not only a commit to the Cornhuskers but will stay one is the light he shed on one coach who coached him while he was recruiting. Glenn Thomas stood out and made a big difference with the 4-star quarterback recruit.

The coach who helped lock down Trae Taylor might be Nebraska’s secret weapon

Taylor took to social media after an article about his relationship with the Nebraska football coach started circulating. He added a preview to the article with a post on X that shows just how important Thomas was in getting the commitment.

"Only handful of Coaches taught me during my process. @_CoachGThomas (Glenn Thomas) teaching style and the fact that he has coached in the league for so long means a lot to me."

Several high-profile teams, including the LSU Tigers and home state Illinois Fighting Illini, made a push for the quarterback towards the end of his recruiting process. That included a home visit from the Big Ten rival just a day before he officially pulled the trigger on his pledge.

Despite pushes by big teams, Thomas’s approach helped seal the deal. Now, the Nebraska football team just knows it needs to make sure Trae Taylor stays in the fold while he works to bring in even more commitments over the next few months.
