It’s no surprise that there are plenty of fans out there who believe Nebraska football 2027 quarterback commit Trae Taylor will eventually end up somewhere else. After all, in this day and age, it’s hard to imagine a player sticking to his pledge for more than a year.

Even Husker star quarterback Dylan Raiola was far from locked down, even when he committed. He first gave his pledge to Ohio State, then Georgia, and then finally the Huskers when they finally made it clear they had what he wanted. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing for a kid to look around and make sure the school he’s picked is the one for him.

Trae Taylor reaffirms commitment to Nebraska football with message about loyalty

However, Trae Taylor continues to insist that Nebraska football is the only school he’ll commit to. He laid out why in response to another player talking about how he views recruiting today. Taylor said that he committed as early as he did because he really found what he was looking for right away with Matt Rhule and his staff.

The conversation started when Lakeland (Clearwater, FL) quarterback Joaquin Kavouklis posted about his journey in recruiting:

Everyone is worried about getting offers, but what everyone fails to realise is you can only play for one team,” he wrote on X. “I’m chasing a relationship! Someone I can sit down with and figure it out. Develop and win games as a team!”

Taylor chimed in, agreeing with the other quarterback and laying out why he’s planning on calling Nebraska home:

“Why I committed so early what you are looking for I found.  Love your approach keep grinding and hope you find your home soon.  So much stress lifted off once you do.  Keep being great.”

The post was a brief look inside the mind of the talented quarterback who, to his credit, was leaning towards the Cornhuskers for a while. Because of that and the numerous times he had glowing things to say about Rhule and company, his commitment didn’t come out of nowhere.

While he might still eventually be swayed (there is a lot of time to go), it’s clear that Trae Taylor isn’t just using Nebraska football as a place holder until something better comes along. He believes he’s found what he’s looking for. And by answering why exactly he committed this early, it helps put NU fans at ease.
