There are some Georgia fans who are not handling the rumors that Dylan Raiola is thinking about committing to Nebraska football after all. They’re really, really not handling it well.

Of course, if Nebraska football fans were dealing with rumors of a 5-star quarterback suddenly having a change of heart, they wouldn’t be handling it well either. Still, the Georgia Bulldog fan meltdown was something to behold on Monday night.

That was the night that rumors of Dylan Raiola showing renewed interest in the Huskers started in earnest. It took no time at all for those “rumors” to turn into fact. With the cherry on the cupcake being a confirmed visit to Lincoln by Raiola this weekend.

And that’s where things got weird on Georgia message boards. One message board in particular.

One Bulldogs fan believes he has the secret formula for making sure that Raiola stays a Georgia commit. And all it would take is a “sick out” among Delta Airlines employees.

The idea was floated on Dawgs HQ and helpfully reposted on X by the account Message Board Geniuses.

“Does anyone here work at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport,” the post started. The poster known as Lagunadog then recycled the talk about Raiola reportedly visiting Lincoln on Friday. The poster apparently went so far as to do some research on what flight the quarterback will be on, as he hatched the plan.

“I assume that he’ll take the 2:21 Delta flight, which is also the last flight of the day to the state. Therefore, If this flight gets cancelled, he likely won’t be able to make the trip, and will stay committed to UGA.”

it got worse from there.

“Obivously messing with commercial flights is a slippery slope,” he continued, clearly showing he wasn’t ready to commit a federal crime. “So I’m not suggest anybody do anything illegal, but does anyone here work for Delta? If some loyal UGA pilots or flight attendants to call in sick at the last minute, the flight could be cancelled and we could keep Raiola.”

Nebraska football needs to be wary of Georgia shenanigans if one fan has his say

It appears that at some point the message board user understood that perhaps a “sick out” was too hard to pull off. At the very least, he said, he pitched that Raiola could lose his baggage and have to endure a Nebraska winter weekend without his coat.

There are some issues with all of this, beyond it being the work of someone that doesn’t seem particularly rooted in reality. First off of course is that Nebraska football could just have him come down the next day. He could also be leaving earlier in the day.

There’s also the fact that Raiola has been to Lincoln several times. Not getting here this weekend doesn’t cement his commitment to Georgia.

What this half-baked plan does show is that Nebraska football fans aren’t the only ones feeling the pressure of this particular recruiting soap opera. Luckily it’s all going to be over, one way or another, in just a little over a week.
