Since Trae Taylor committed to the Nebraska football program, there have been few future Huskers who have been as vocal about their love for the school or who have worked as hard to keep the commits rolling in. And yet, there’s been an inordinate amount of talk about an eventual flip.
Some of that talk is just based in “he’s got an year and a half until he can sign” realism. But some is based in obvious jealousy. And no matter what the speculation is based in, the 4-star quarterback wants fans to know it’s nonsense.
Trae Taylor reaffirms Nebraska commitment amid persistent flip rumors
Taylor assured the Nebraska football fanbase directly earlier this week with a post on X: “That’s why I find it funny when others say I’ll decommit,” the quarterback wrote. “As long as that staff is in that building I’m coming in 18 months to Lincoln. With hopefully multiple buddies.”

Trae Taylor has been posting multiple times a day about the “buddies” he would like to bring to Lincoln. He’s worked on 2027 class prospects while also keeping an eye on the 2026, and even 2028 cycle.
It’s not like he was all that hard to read even before he committed to the Huskers. He’s been quite effusive in his praise of Matt Rhule and his staff since his first unofficial vist to Nebraska.
He’s been looked at as a lean to NU for almost as long. So why would he all of the sudden decide the Cornhuskers aren’t where he wants to be?
Other than “players flip for no reason or a bigger bad” nonsense, there isn’t really a reason to think Taylor is going to flip. Especially not anytime soon.
The fight is going to be a long one. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in his entire class. He’s one of the best players in a state that offers up plenty of high school talent. Power 4 programs aren’t backing off just because he committed.
But there certainly hasn’t been any public facing signs that the Nebraska football coaches should be remotely worried. And the fact of the matter is that when Rhule and his crew really set their sites on someone, they get them and keep them.
