As the Nebraska football team prepares for the 2024 season, the coaching staff is still working hard on future iterations of the team. That’s especially the case when talking about the quarterback position.

Dylan Raiola is locked in for the 2024 class. TJ Lateef looks like he’s locked in for the 2025 cycle. And now the Huskers are looking like they’re in good standing when it comes to the 2026 group.

The Nebraska football team made the finalists list for one of the better quarteracks in the 2026 class earlier this week. However, now that they’re among the favorites for Helaman Casuga, the work is far from over. They’re facing off against some of the best teams in the country to try and lock him down.

For Casuga, it's Arizona, Auburn, Brigham Young, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Utah and Washington setting the pace for the talented signal-caller, who is among the top uncommitted players out west.

The 4-star quarterback out of Corner Canyon in Utah has a ton of other Power Conference teams coming after him. But the Huskers are amongst the best of the bunch. That’s despite the fact that they have their eggs in several different 2026 quarterback’s baskets.

As for why the Cornhuskers are among the finalists, Casuga has gone on record as calling Nebraska fans the best in the country. He hasn’t seen Lincoln in person just yet, but he’s expected to take a visit this fall.

In fact, the Utah star wants to see what Nebraska football has to offer when they take on the Colorado Buffaloes. That of course means that a game that already had a ton of pressure piled on it, just got a little bit more important.
