Nebraska football leads the pack ahead of Douglas Utu weekend visit
The Nebraska football has a big June ahead of recruiting-wise. That big month starts this weekend when one of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 class will be in Lincoln. That’s the good news. The better news is that Douglas Utu is now trending toward Matt Rhule and company.
Utu currently plays for Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is the No. 2 player in Nevada for the class of 2025 and the No. 3 interior offensive lineman nationwide. The monster lineman has officially narrowed his list to Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington and the Huskers.
The Nebraska football team has a fight on its hands against some of the best teams in the country. However, it looks like they’re running ahead at the moment. There’s an even better sign hidden in what he’s done so far and what direction the wind is blowing.
Nebraska football running ahead in race for Douglas Utu
The offensive lineman is currently favored to land in Lincoln by On3’s prediction collective, though it’s just a slim margin over Michigan. The Cornhuskers are given a 26 percent chance of landing the offensive lineman, while the Wolverines have a 23 percent chance of getting the blue-chipper.
Just how the visit with Utu goes could set the ton for the rest of the month. And the rest of the 2025 class.
If they can come out of his visit as the clear leaders still, it might just mean strengthening their standing. Utu has gone on record as saying that these visits are going to be the determining factor in deciding where he plays his college ball.
It can only be a good sign that they’re seen as the leaders before he’s even set foot in town. Matt Rhule and company know how to close the deal. Nebraska football might be about to do that.
