It seems that the Nebraska football program knows that in order to really be “back,” they need to build up front. The Huskers are already looking at the top offensive line target in the country and hoping to reel him in. They’re also in the running for the 3rd-ranked o-lineman and he is pulling the trigger next month.
Douglas Utu has seen the intensity of his recruitment ramp up something fierce in the last few weeks. That coincides with him making it clear he’s about ready to shut everything down.
Like David Sanders, Utu feels like a longshot for the Nebraska football team. However, the Cornhuskers are in the race. They’re right there with the big boys. And they’re in his final group of candidates as he gets closer to making things official.
Nebraska football hoping to pull a rabbit out of the hat with Douglas Utu
Utu is a four-star interior offensive lineman for Bishop Gorman High out of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is currently the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Nevada for the class of 2025 and the No. 3 interior offensive lineman nationwide.
The 6-foot-3, 300 pound lineman, already has one official visit in the can with the Washington Huskies on May 3. He’s in Michigan this weekend. Utu could be taking as man as four other visits before he calls it good.
At the moment, Alabama is the only one officially scheduled. He’ll check out the Crimson Tide on June 7. NU, Oregon and Tennessee are all still in a bit of limbo trying to get things sorted for their own visits.
It’s possible that Utu will just fill up the entire month with a trip a weekend. That would coincide nicely with his plans to commit in July.
For now, the Nebraska football is still very much in the running for Douglas Utu. That means the next month is going to be very, very interesting.
