Ever since Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule set foot in Lincoln, there have been a couple of different camps. Some former Huskers jumped on board with the hire from the first day. Others took a little bit of time to warm up to the man who hadn't previously had any ties to the Husker program.

There were also some who were against the hire from the very beginning. Some former players thought that the hire was one of a losing coach who had been run out on a rail by the NFL team he used to coach. And there were still others who didn't specifically speak out on Rhule but didn't feel as though they were really embraced by the Nebraska football program anymore.

Count one of the best wide receivers to play during the Tom Osborne era as a Nebraska football great who is definitely on board with Matt Rhule. Abdul Muhhamed is officially a fan and thinks Rhule is going to get the program moving in the right direction.

Nebraska football legend thinks Matt Rhule has that vibe

"Like I told Coach Matt Rhule," Muhammad said in a recent appearance of the Locked On Nebraska Podcast. "When I first met him, you know, I just, I had, I felt that vibe. I told him I could feel it with people. Like when I meet him, I felt that vibe.”

Starting in 1991, Muhammad played in 11 games his Freshman through Junior seasons, and played in 12 his senior year.  In all he played in 45 games and racked up 61 catches for 938 yards with an average of 15.4 yards per catch, with 6 touchdowns.

He did all of this during a period of time when Nebraska almost never threw the ball 20 times in a game.

In 1994, his senior season, he helped NU to a national championship in the Orange Bowl against Miami.  In that game he had 4 catches for 60 yards.

In other words, Muhammad knows that vibe. He knows what it takes to win big. And he thinks the Nebraska football program is in excellent hands.
