While the Nebraska football team is poised to land its quarterback for the 2027 class, there’s another top target from that recruiting cycle that very much likes what he sees in the Huskers.

Since he arrived in Lincoln, head coach Matt Rhule has made recruiting in Texas a priority. So the fact that Zane Rowe, out of Guyer, Texas, is genuinely interested in the Cornhuskers is already a big win. That Rhule and his coaches come to the recruiting battle armed with Rowe already knowing and loving Lincoln is a massive added bonus.

Top 2027 EDGE sees Nebraska as a second home amid growing national interest

Rivals Tim Verghese recently reported that Rowe might be in the Lone Star State, but he used to visit Lincoln for the Holidays when he was growing up. Those family ties to the Nebraska football program left an indelible impression, as evidenced by Rowe's effusive praise for the Cornhuskers.

“Nebraska’s culture is unmatched,” Rowe said while adding that he considers Lincoln a second home. “Nebraska football is as big as it gets.”

Rowe is a 4-star EDGE who is considered one of the absolute best players in the 2027 class. According to 247Sports Composite Rankings, he’s considered the No. 66 player in the entire class, the No. 10 player at his position, and the No. 13 player in the state.

He’s going to have his pick of schools, as he’s got offers from power programs like Florida State, Texas, Penn State, Oregon, and Tennessee, among many, many others.

It comes as no surprise that Rowe is quite the athlete, as he runs track and plays basketball at his high school in Denton, Texas. And he’s shown some real growth since his high school career started at Guyer.

After getting some playing time as a freshman, Rowe had a breakout sophomore season, racking up 75 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.

While Rowe loves what he’s seen from the Nebraska football program so far, it’s going to be a long fight against some of the country’s best. But at least Rhule and company have their foot in the door for one of the best in his class.
