While the Nebraska football team sits and waits to see if it will land one of the best quarterback prospects in the country for the 2027 class in Trae Taylor, the Huskers already now they’ve got one heck of signal caller from the 2026 class in Dayton Raiola.

Yes, Dayton is obviously the younger brother of star Husker quarterback Dylan Raiola, but the younger player long ago demonstrated that he’s earned a scholarship offer because of who he is rather than who he’s related to.

Dayton Raiola recruiting for Nebraska football’s future

Dayton Raiola was back in Lincoln over the weekend to check out the Nebraska football team’s new verison of the spring game, dubbed the Husker Games and featuring a ton of different events and fan activities that even included a kind of Cornhuskers garage sale. During the visit he talked about how he’s thrilled to be a commit to NU and is working hard to draw in others to be his future teammates.

"I am recruiting some certain guys that I try to stay on about every other day," Raiola told Sports Illustrated. "There’s so many guys that we want, it would be hard to put a list on it."

In addition to working to bring other players into the progam, Dayton is working on becoming the best version he can ahead of his final high school season. Last year, his efficiency with the football stood out as he threw for 1,953, 19 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions according to MaxPreps.

When Dayton Raiola does sign on the dotted line, it will be interesting to see if he brings anyone with him to the Nebraska football program. Even if he arrives “empty handed” he’ll be continuing what has been a very nice run of recruiting quarterbacks since Matt Rhule and company arrived on campus.
