The Nebraska football team already has its 2026 quarterback in the boat. The Huskers are trying to land their 2027 QB, and it appears they are indeed in the running for one of the best gunslingers in that class.
NU hosted Carmel Catholic (Lake In The Hills, IL) prospect Trae Taylor over the last two days, and it appears Matt Rhule and company made an excellent impression. This happens to be the second time the coaching staff has had Taylor in Lincoln on an unofficial visit, and they’ve managed to win him over whenever he comes on a visit.
Nebraska football impressed the hell out of 2027 QB prospect
It’s been great @HuskerFootball … great few days in Lincoln. Ton to think about … give a follow Nebraska to follow my decision pic.twitter.com/bsWK2sLjJS

"The conversations I had, especially with Dylan..opened my eyes to a few things,” Taylor told Rivals while he was in town. He also made it clear on his own Twitter account that he loved what he saw posting: “It’s been great @HuskerFootball … great few days in Lincoln. Ton to think about … give a follow Nebraska to follow my decision.”
There are few things that Taylor saw that he didn’t love. Certainly he enjoyed talking to Nebraska football’s starting quarterback, Dylan Raiola. However he also got to see an offense that he believes is a perfect fit for him. And he’s seen a program that wants him to be a part of it.
Trae Taylor is set to announce his commitment on June 6 and that in and of itself is an interesting twist. That’s quite early for a 2027 prospect. That could mean he’s planning on changing to the 2026 class. If he does, things get complicated with Dayton Raiola.
The Nebraska football team appears to definitely be a front runner. However, Trae Taylor is fast moving and definitely looking at other schools. That includes Texas A&M. He’s in College Station for an unofficial visit today.
