The Nebraska football team might be a dark horse when it comes to landing 2027 quarterback prospect Trae Taylor, but Matt Rhule and company are going to go out swinging, if they go out.
Earlier this week, the Carmel Catholic quarterback laid out the official visits he’s going to take this spring. He also made it clear that things are about to move very quickly as he plans on committing to a school this June.
The Nebraska football program has some roadblocks in its way for Taylor, but they are getting one of those official visits. The Huskers will host the quarterback prospect on March 27 during a period where he’s going to be very, very busy. At the moment, the Cornhuskers are the second to last visit for Taylor when he hits six campuses over an 11-day period.
Many are asking about my visits after dropping my top 5. With my commitment coming in June. Many things can happen so I’m going to keep building relationships, Until I commit. Here are thoughts on each school. Definitely blessed @PlayBookAthlete @QBHitList @SWiltfong_… pic.twitter.com/DtdkKnhNRo

Nebraska football gets a visit from 2027 QB prospect Trae Taylor
In addition to the trip to Lincoln, Taylor announced he’s headed to Notre Dame on March 18, Georgia on March 22, Illinois on March 24, Michigan on March 25, and Texas A&M on March 29.
He’s also eyeing a visit to the LSU Tigers, though doesn’t appear to have a date locked in just yet.
In addition to Tweeting out his visits and the schools he’s looking at, he also issued a little tidbit on each school and why he likes them. And its here where Taylor’s comments should excite any Husker fan paying attention.
“This is the only school that I can say I absolutely love the whole staff!” Taylor offered in his post. “Only 2 schools have had the HC come to my school. Nebraska is one of them.”
One of the most interesting twists for one of the top quarterback prospects in his class is that there are rumblings that he might be looking to reclassify. That would explain his commitment in June.
If Taylor is moving to the 2026 class, then it becomes a problem since the Huskers have Dayton Raiola committed as their quarterback in that class. It seems unlikely that Taylor would be a second commit there and it certainly seems unlikely that NU would cut Dayton loose.
The next few weeks and months are going to be interesting to watch for the Nebraska football team as it tries to stay in the fight against some impressive opponents for Trae Taylor.
