If Matt Rhule is going to make Trae Taylor the latest commit to the Nebraska football team, he’s going to need to pull out all the stops. And with Taylor coming to Lincoln this weekend, he’ll need to use some secret weapons as well.

One of those secret weapons was actually teased by Taylor when he announced his surprise visit. The 2027 quarterback prospect has talked about a number of things that could sway him from one team to another. In his latest post on X, Taylor also mentioned specifically what could be the deciding factor.

Nebraska gets one final shot to lock in elite QB target before decision

When Taylor took to social media to say that he’s taking in Nebraska one more time, just days ahead of his commitment, he tipped of that since he’s gotten to know the coaches and players and the campus in several visits to Lincoln, this time around, the issue is getting to know the fans a bit better.

“Decided to make 1 last trip back to @HuskerFootball this Saturday for their spring activities. And before my 5/1 decision,” the talented quarterback wrote before really giving the game away. “Hope to engage with the fans some this weekend.”

It is of course, worth pointing out that a prospect or recruiting engaging with a school’s fans is not always something that would be a positive. However, Taylor is a different breed of recruit who seems to possess maturity beyond his years.

He’s one of those athletes who has been fully raised in the social media era and has certainly seen both the good and bad of it. Now he wants to get an up close and personal look at Nebraska fans and how they root on their team during real activities.

Granted, the Husker Games doesn’t offer the same opportunity that the Spring Game has offered in the past. But it’s pretty clear that this weekend is the final push for the Nebraska football team in landing one of the most coveted targets in his class. Here’s hoping Trae Taylor enjoys engaging with the fans and they convince him where he needs to pull the commitment trigger.
