Through no fault of his own, Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor has been at the center of several different conversations involving the Husker fan base. The first started after Taylor attempted to rally the troops after Ahmad Hudson committed to LSU and a group of Omaha radio hosts decided to ridicule his social media activities.
On Thursday, things ramped up a bit when reports surfaced that Ohio State is making a push for the talented quarterback. While there aren't a ton of specifics other than early conversations and vague mentions of NIL, the idea of the Buckeyes coming calling made a few Husker fans sweat. Which is why on Friday, none other than Trae's father, J.R. Taylor, felt the need to discuss the situation and put a few issues to bed.
Ok let’s clear the air. 1) Trae doesn’t let dumb things like this phase him a bit. 2) schools have been trying to flip him the last 8 months. His response I’m committed and not taking visits 3) you won’t hear from Trae much anymore all of his focus is now on his sr year. https://t.co/wGZHLwfK14

Trae Taylor’s father gave Nebraska football a blunt answer on the latest flip fears
The elder Taylor said he wanted to clear the air. He then laid out that while some Nebraska fans were worried about the Husker commit's reaction to the taunting from the radio hosts, Trae doesn't let that sort of nonsense bother him.
Then, while not specifically mentioning Ohio State J.R. schools have been working to flip his son "for the last eight months." The obvious sentiment to take from this comment was that while Ohio State and other teams might want to get a foot in the door, it's not something new and it's not something NU fans should worry about.
Alluding to the idea that he was delivering a message for his son, Taylor wrote, "his response, I’m committed and not taking visits." This message is, of course, no different than what he's been saying since he gave his pledge to Nebraska, but it still managed to drive the point home.
J.R. Taylor made it clear Nebraska football is not losing ground in this battle
Finally, the Husker QB commit's dad attempted to squash any future attack of nerves. "You won’t hear from Trae much anymore all of his focus is now on his sr year."
It's a safe bet that if Nebraska fans had suddenly noticed less social media activitity, they would draw conclusions, including that the radio hosts who decided to make fun of a high school junior had managed to chase him off. The quarterback's father wanted everyone to know the silence was a planned thing as he gets ready to make the move to Lincoln.
With Trae Taylor planning to play for Millard South this fall, his commitment to Nebraska has always seemed very solid. Still, the family wanted to keep fans from panicing amid a news cycle way too full of talk around the budding star.
