Despite their best efforts the Nebraska football team lost the battle for top tight end in the 2027 class, Ahmad Hudson on Sunday afternoon.
Hudson made the long-awaited announcement that he'd picked LSU over the Huskers, giving the Tigers a heck of a football player, but also one of the best basketball players in the class. His dual-sport talents were just another in a long list of reasons why NU was hoping beyond hope to land the Ruston, Louisiana prospect.
Ahmad Hudson picks LSU over Nebraska football in a tough recruiting loss
While Nebraska fans are clearly a bit down on losing a battle for a player they were heavily favored for at one time, there might be a bright side. Rivals analyst Tim Verghese doesn't believe things are settled for Ahmad Hudson just yet.
Behind the scenes story on this recruitment is a doozy, and there could still be some potential twists and turns ahead

You'll have to wait till after Signing Day for that though https://t.co/K6ECTO8Yvu
Not long after the right end prospect picked the Bayou Bengals over the Huskers, Verghese posted a little hint on Twitter. While adding the entire story of Hudson's recruitment would be quite interesting, he added he thinks it's not yet written in stone that he'll be playing in Baton Rouge.
Nebraska football insider suggests Ahmad Hudson recruitment may not be finished
"Behind-the-scenes story on this recruitment is a doozy," the Nebraska insider posted. "And there could still be some potential twists and turns ahead."
Hudson, who has visited LSU multiple times in 2026, marks the Tigers' top-ranked in-state pledge under new head coach Lane Kiffin and lands as the highest-ranked of five top 300 commits in the program's 2027 class.
Hudson courted interest from football programs across the Big Ten and SEC this spring as one of the nation's top pass-catching prospects in the 2027 cycle. He initially scheduled official visits with LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and USC before canceling his trips to see the Aggies and Trojans and narrowing his recruitment to LSU and Nebraska last month.
Husker commits Trae Taylor and Antayvious Ellis have spent most of the spring working hard on Ahmad Hudson and trying to get him to commit to being their college teammate. It's safe to say that if there are twists and turns and the tight end changes his commitment to Nebraska, they'll play a large part in the decision.
