Nebraska football fans who might have thought top 2027 tight end prospect Ahmad Hudson was losing interest in the Huskers can breathe a sigh of relief. After canceling a previous visit that some believed was a hint he was leaning elsewhere, the two-sport star set an official visit date for June.

Hudson announced his official visit to Lincoln on Twitter, showing it will be from June 12 to June 14. In the process, his visit shows that the Huskers are still very much in the fight. In fact, it can’t hurt that while the football team might be on the upswing, the basketball team absolutely is rocketing upwards.

After two missed trips to campus this spring, Hudson took to social media to make it clear his inability to get to Nebraska earlier wasn’t due to a lack of interest. He told fans to go talk to NU quarterback commit Trae Taylor and wide receiver commit Antayvious “Tay” Ellis about “how much I talk to them about coming to Nebraska. God just put me in a position this weekend that I’ve prayed for, for a long time.”

Ahmad Hudson’s June official visit is big news for Nebraska football and Nebraska basketball

The position Hudson was talking about wasn’t a visit to another school (like LSU), which has been pushing for his services. He was invited to the Team USA Men’s Junior National Team minicamp for basketball. It’s not hard to imagine how select the group is that gets that kind of an invitation. Hudson simply couldn’t pass it up, especially since he knew he could just schedule a visit later in the year.

Even if the idea that a player that On3 ranks as the No. 14 in the entire 2027 class wasn’t really looking elsewhere, it’s welcome news for Nebraska football and basketball fans to hear he’s still planning on an official visit. Ahmad Hudson has made it clear he wants to try and play both sports, and considering he’s thought to be a Top 50 player and Top 5 center in his class, both Fred Hoiberg and Matt Rhule have to be excited to welcome him in June.
