Nebraska got good news and bad news this week regarding its top target on the 2027 recruiting board. Ahmad Hudson has long been thought to be a heavy lean to the Huskers. However, as he narrows down his list to his top six, NU made the cut but reportedly fell behind Lane Kiffin and company.

The Huskers, as well as LSU, USC, Texas A&M, Miami, and Missouri, won't stop fighting for the very talented player. On the football side of things, Hudson is the top tight end in the class and the No. 14 player overall, according to Rivals' Industry Rankings. On the basketball side of things, he's the No. 5 center in the country and the No. 31 player overall.

Unfortunately for Nebraska, at the moment, both the football and basketball programs might be robbed of the chance to see how he could help them up close and personal. After spending months "out front," the Huskers have been usurped, according to analyst Shea Dixon, by the Bayou Bengals.

Ahmad Hudson's top six puts Nebraska football in a tough spot with LSU now leading the race

On the flip side, Huskers quarterback commit Trae Taylor made it clear he's still going to be pushing hard for the big tight end. Taylor has long been working overtime in peer recruiting, especially for Hudson. He's not giving up just because LSU got a new prediction.

With it being only March, there's still plenty of time for Nebraska to fight off all comers. However, LSU surging into the lead, even well before signing day, isn't a good sign, especially with the money Lane Kiffin has at his disposal. Things in regard to Ahmad Hudson just shifted into high gear.
