Nebraska’s Georgia line raid just became a full-blown recruiting heater with 4-star OT

Not long after the Huskers found out who they'll be playing in their first Lincoln regional since 2008, the Nebraska football team got some great news as well. 4-star offensive tackle Timi Aliu officially pulled the trigger on a commitment announcement.

Now that the Cornhuskers have Aliu in the fold, it's easy to claim that Matt Rhule, Geep Wade, and the rest of the coaching staff are on a bona fide heater. Aliu is the third offensive line commit in the last two weeks, and all three come from deep in the SEC wilds of Georgia. That the Huskers were able to beat out coaches like Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney is sweet enough; that they've managed to land two interior offensive linemen and one tackle all for the 2027 class is just icing on the cake.

Timi Aliu had a who's who of Power 4 programs recruiting him hard. In addition to Nebraska pursuing him, he had offers from Auburn, Clemson, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Liberty, LSU, Missouri, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Sacramento State, and Wake Forest.

For Aliu, the teams to beat had long looked like the Huskers, the Gators, and the Clemson Tigers, with Dabo Swinney being a late addition that still climbed into the race enough that some NU fans were a bit nervous. Aliu has long leaned towards NU, and it's clear that his relationship with former Georgia Tech-turned-Nebraska offensive line coach Geep Wade has paid big dividends.

Timi Aliu gives Nebraska football a complete Georgia offensive line recruiting surge

The Huskers have certainly been on a heater, but bigger than that, Wade has absolutely torn it up on the recruiting trail as May winds down. It's hard not to imagine that the players who have the mindset of telling NU fans to "expect violence" are also exactly the kind of players badly needed in Lincoln.

While KD Jones and Jordan Agbanoma were both massive gets, Timi Aliu's commitment stands out because he's from Georgia, specifically Locust Grove, rather than Grayson. In other words, while the three offensive linemen likely know each other from various camps and are some of the best players in the Peach State, Aliu isn't a high school teammate of the other two.

If the commitment wasn't already good news, the fact that he appears to be shutting down his recruitment is equally welcome. In this day and age, that's not always a given as recruits understand the reality of the NIL and Rev Share world. However, while the 4-star offensive tackle was going to do a full official visit schedule to Clemson, Georgia, Florida, and Nebraska, he'll now only take his official to Lincoln on June 5.

The No. 20 offensive tackle and No. 25 player in the state, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, is also a big get, as it gives Nebraska a rise in the team rankings. In the 247Sports Top 25, the Huskers are now sitting at No. 19, just ahead of Texas Tech. They're even better on the Rivals rankings as they now sit at No. 14 among 2027 classes.
