Nebraska’s Georgia pipeline looks like a real problem for the SEC after the latest commit

The addition of Jordan Agbanoma to the 2027 Nebraska football recruiting class is a big one for a whole host of reasons. Right near the top of the list is the Huskers' apparent pipeline into the state of Georgia. Few schools can claim they've taken numerous recruits away from the Bulldogs, but Matt Rhule and his crew have done that repeatedly.

Agbanoma, the 4-star interior offensive lineman from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson has visited Nebraska twice before, with his first visit last fall and his return this spring. The monster prospect, who stands 6-feet-3 inches tall and weighs 315 pounds, chose the Huskers over schools such as Georgia, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, and Alabama.

It should surprise no one that what stood out to the prospect during his trips to Lincoln were the atmosphere and a dedicated fanbase that continues to cheer on Nebraska even when some members of that group might not be thrilled with the results on the field.

“What stood out to me about the visit to Nebraska was the fans and the facilities,” Jordan Agbanoma told On3 last fall following his visit to Lincoln. “The atmosphere at Nebraska is electric, and their facilities are amazing. I loved my visit to Lincoln.”

Nebraska has been especially effective in Georgia in the 2027 cycle. Agbanoma joins four-star safety Corey Hadley from Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek, who committed to Nebraska at the end of April. There is also quite a cadre of other Georgia prospects who will be taking trips to Lincoln starting next month and might be persuaded by how the team's current commits.

The Huskers will host four-star offensive tackle Timi Aliu from Locust Grove (Ga.), and four-star safety Kennedy Green from Mableton (Ga.) Douglas County. They're also pushing for visits from 3-star athlete AJ Tillman, 4-star offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson Lithonia, and 3-star Joey Hunter. Hunter is Agbanoma's teammate, and it certainly seems like a package deal could be in the works.

At the very least, the offensive lineman could get his teammate to listen a little closer to what Rhule and his staff are pitching.

Agbanoma is rated as the No. 83 overall and the No. 7 interior offensive lineman (IOL) in the nation, as well as the No. 7 player from Georgia by the Rivals Industry Rankings. The 247Sports Composite has him rated a bit higher, at No. 80 overall in the class, No. 5 IOL, and No. 7 in Georgia as well.

The Tuesday commitment is not just a sign that Nebraska is having real success in Georgia. It's also a big statement for new offensive line coach Geep Wade, who certainly knows the Peach State well, having come to Lincoln from Georgia Tech. Agbanoma is the first offensive line recruit that Wade has added to the 2027 class.

Before Agbanoma and Hadley committed to Nebraska in this cycle, the last Georgia recruits to sign with the Huskers were wide receiver Nalin Scott from Powder Springs McEachern HS, who signed with Nebraska as part of the 2026 recruiting class, and quarterback Dylan Raiola from Buford, who signed with the Huskers in 2025. Raiola was committed to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs before flipping to NU.
