Timi Aliu is one of the crowning jewels of Nebraska football’s 2027 recruiting class. Naturally, some fans have grown nervous that the Husker commit could be looking elsewhere, but those closest to him are working to quiet any rumors that he might flip.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Aliu has the versatility to play either tackle or guard at Nebraska potentially. The 4-star prospect is part of a very talented group of offensive linemen that position coach Geep Wade has assembled as part of the first class he’s overseen for his room since coming to Nebraska.
The Locust Grove High School product from Locust Grove, Georgia, visited Florida State this past weekend to watch them struggle to beat New Mexico State under the lights on Saturday night. Because Tallahassee is much closer to home, the trip raised more than a few eyebrows in and around Lincoln.
However, Aliu himself went out of his way on social media to make it clear that he’s still 100% committed to the Huskers. One could argue his Twitter post was among the most direct statements a recruit has made about a situation like this in quite some time.

“Nothing to worry about y’all,” Aliu wrote on Friday afternoon, adding a laugh emoji. “We at GBR next week.”
In other words, the offensive lineman is planning an official visit to the Huskers when they open the season against Ohio, which fits with his public message.
One big checkmark for Nebraska is that he’s clearly struck up relationships not just with Wade but with several other 2027 recruits. Those ties also fit with what Aliu said earlier this year: “It was really just a blessing to be part of something so great at Nebraska,” Timi Aliu said earlier this year. “And knowing a few of the guys that would be with me, like Trae Taylor, Jordan Agbanoma, and Khalil Taylor, to name a few. I also think about how blessed I am to be a Husker. And I loved the summer, just getting to talk with all of the guys.”
On the other hand, Aliu does know a few of the guys at Florida State, and he has reportedly formed good relationships with the coaching staff. That said, it’s hard to ever really relax about a recruiting fight, especially for a player as talented as Timi Aliu.
The 4-star lineman is ranked as the No. 267 player in the 2027 class, the No. 22 player at the offensive tackle position and the No. 25 player in the state of Georgia according to Rivals Industry Rankings. In addition to Nebraska, he’s amassed more than 30 total offers, including from Power Conference schools like Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Taking Aliu’s word for it, Nebraska doesn’t have anything to worry about as long as they keep the lines of communication with him wide open. Still, in the age of NIL, this could be a situation that has fans biting their fingernails until signing day in December.
