The Nebraska football team has already had one heck of a run in the 2027 recruiting class. However, it looks like the Huskers picked up one more commit that is being kept secret for now. It’s a big enough commitment that the coaching staff is excited, and several assistants tweeted their usual “we got one” GIFs on Friday.
It was also big enough that one of the better commits the Huskers have landed in this class, Timi Aliu, joined in the fun with a “just wait” message along with three shushing emojis. That, of course, could also mean “be silent,” as in a silent commit.
There is one big guess from Nebraska fans that still seems too good to be true. The Huskers have been working hard to flip the best tight end in the class, Ahmad Hudson, from LSU. While the Tigers still expect him to be in the fold, the Cornhuskers have worked hard enough that there have been signs they might have found a way to drive a wedge between his home-state team and the talented player.
That work has included NU basketball coaches traveling out to Las Vegas to watch the multi-talented star dominate on the hardwood. It’s long been known that if and when the Huskers were able to land Ahmad Hudson, he would be looking to play for both the basketball and football teams.

Nebraska football silent commitment sparks Ahmad Hudson flip speculation
The real news here is that it’s unlikely this particular commit stays under wraps, whether it’s Ahmad Hudson or someone else. The coaches and his future teammates are likely not tweeting out hints that something big happened unless an announcement is coming in short order.
If it’s not Ahmad Hudson, then the apparent commitment would definitely be a surprise, as the Huskers haven’t really seemed all that close to another commit that they haven’t already landed in June and early July.
If it is the prized tight end, then it’s one of the biggest wins of the Matt Rhule era at Nebraska. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound five-star tight end from Ruston High School (Ruston, LA) is ranked as the No. 19 player in the 2027 class, the No. 1 player at his tight end position, and the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
In addition to LSU and Nebraska, the 5-star prospect has offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and Wisconsin, among many others.
On the football field, he absolutely dominated, catching 61 passes for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns during his 2025 junior season at Ruston. He earned first-team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors and recorded six receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown in the Louisiana Division I Non-Select championship game.
On the court, Hudson was even more dominant as he averaged 19.7 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game during his 2025-26 junior basketball season, leading Ruston to a 23-4 record and, once again, the Louisiana Division I Non-Select state championship game. A one-man wrecking crew, the Nebraska target did everything he could to personally carry his team to the title, falling just short. Hudson finished the title game with 32 points, 24 rebounds, seven blocks and four steals in a 63-60 loss to Zachary.
