Nebraska football is turning heads on the recruiting trail, surging ahead as the front-runner for a coveted 4-star running back. The buzz around this potential commitment speaks volumes about the program's momentum under Matt Rhule’s leadership in the wake of the Huskers first winning record since the 2016 season.

With a rich history of developing elite rushers and a fanbase that craves a return to glory, Nebraska's appeal is hard to overlook. This latest pursuit of DeZephen Walker underscores the staff's relentless effort to secure talent that can reinvigorate the offense and cement the team’s status as a Big Ten contender.

Now it looks as though the Nebraska football team is beating out one of its old Big 8 rivals for Walker, who has plenty of Power programs wanting him to sign on the dotted line with them. The Raymore-Peculiar prospect’s lean towards NU also shows that Rhule and company continue to be impressive when it comes to mining Missouri of late.

Nebraska football takes the lead for talented running back

According to On3, the RPM’s currently have the Huskers as the front runner for Walker, who has offers from NU, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Tennessee and others.

That’s the good news for NU. The bad news is that it looks like it’s a back and forth battle for the Huskers and the Jayhawks. This looks like it’s going to be a fight for the rest of the recruiting cycle.

And then back to good news. Nebraska football tends to win these kinds of fights.
