Penn State had the last laugh at the Nebraska football team on the field last year. However, when it comes to recruiting 4-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor, Matt Rhule looks like he’s about to exact some revenge on the Nittany Lions.

There was a time when Taylor, a former commit to PSU under James Franklin, was thought to be headed back there to play for Matt Campbell. However, after a last-minute visit to Lincoln and the Huskers, things started to change. Those changes were underlined by analyst predictions on where Taylor will commit when he makes the official announcement on July 6.

On Wednesday, four different Rivals analysts logged predictions for Nebraska football to land the services of Khalil Taylor. Bryan Munson, Allen Trieu, Steve Wiltfong, and Tim Verghese entered those predictions within 45 minutes of each other.

In other words, something concrete happened that made experts believe the Pine-Richland (Pittsburgh, PA) star will be a Husker when July 6 comes and goes. Whether that’s simply a hunch or a silent commitment from Taylor is anyone’s guess. Still, whispers of a silent commitment to Penn State were rampant just a few weeks ago. In fact, less than two weeks ago, several analysts predicted Taylor would head to State College on commitment day.

Khalil Taylor visit gives Nebraska football major momentum before July decision

The latest predictions also come just days after Taylor made his official visit to Nebraska. During that visit, several cryptic teases surfaced on social media, all hinting that the wide receiver was “All N.”

It’s also worth noting that Penn State fans are clearly worried about how this recruitment is going. Victory Bell Rings analyst Sydney Ciano has talked at length about how bad it would be for Campbell’s new regime to lose a recruiting battle to the Huskers for one of the best players in the school’s home state. She repeated those concerns in her latest piece about Khalil Taylor and stressed how imperative it is that PSU gets him.

The Nittany Lions are undoubtedly putting the pedal to the floor with Taylor if they weren't doing so already,” Ciano said. “With head coach Matt Rhule making a last-minute effort to land the Pennsylvania wideout, Campbell has to pull out all the stops to ensure Taylor stays at home and at Penn State.”

She added that Campbell lost a recruiting battle for another top wide receiver target, Deshawn Hall, which makes the Nittany Lions even more desperate to land Khalil Taylor.

“Taylor's commitment just reached new heights of seriousness for Campbell,” she added. “Hall's commitment put Penn State in a disastrous position. The last thing Campbell needs is for Taylor to do a 180, choose the Cornhuskers, and send everything spiraling.”

That, of course, means that Nebraska has yet another reason to win this battle. Landing one of the best receivers in the class helps Matt Rhule and his staff immensely. Getting to cause panic in Penn State-land is just a cherry on the sundae, but after the blowout loss last season to the Nittany Lions, that cherry and the sundae would taste extra sweet.
