Since Matt Rhule arrived in Lincoln, it’s felt as though his recruiting of in-state prospects has been scrutinized repeatedly. Since he admitted that he missed on one Teddy Rezac after his first Husker season, the pressure has ramped up a bit.
That’s why people notice when a homegrown prospect starts getting offers from Power 4 programs, and the Cornhuskers haven’t come calling yet. That’s now the case with 2027 QB prospect Braylen Warren.
Warren recently got official offers from Kansas State and Iowa State. An offer from the Nebraska football program is conspicuously missing. The question is now just how long the Huskers are going to lay off, if he’s really someone worthy of getting an FBS scholarship from some of the better programs in the Big 12.
Nebraska football is waiting on Braylen Warren
There is of course plenty of reasons why the Huskers might not have made the call yet. One of those reasons is that NU has set its sights on other 2027 quarterbacks.
Trae Taylor is someone that Matt Rhule and company want pretty badly. It appears he’s been impressed with what he’s seen too.
Taylor looks like he’s their number one target. If that falls through, then it might be time to turn the Cornhuskers attention to Warren. But the question is whether he’ll still be willing to answer the phone if Nebraska football comes calling. That is of course, the danger of recruiting in this day and age. Teams are coming after Nebraska prospects more and more. And some are going to get away.
