The Nebraska football team has already had a rather active National Signing Day. There are over a dozen commits that have signed with more on the way throughout the day. However, the Huskers did get a bit of bad news on Wednesday morning.

One of the Huskers top flip targets, Michael Terry III was choosing between Oregon, Texas and the Cornhuskers. He announced on Tuesday that he was committing today and this morning he made his choice.

The Nebraska football team lost out to the Texas Longhorns for Terry. That is hardly a huge surprise considering where he had been leaning for a while now. Though there was some hope the coaching staff might have been able to flip him at the last minute.

Nebraska football loses first potential flip showdown in Michael Terry III

Terry took a couple of visits to Lincoln over the last year and came away impressed every single time. That was one of the big reasons why the Huskers thought they might be driving a wedge in.

However, beating Texas was always going to be difficult. They’re a playoff team that also just happens to be his home state school. However, it’s still a big loss for the Huskers, who were looking to nab the nation’s No. 1 athlete.

There are still a few flip targets out there that aren’t officially in any boat. All eyes are going to be on Cortez Mills who seems like the most obvious one who could pick Nebraska football despite being committed to Oklahoma.
