While the Nebraska football team is preparing for the season in just a few weeks, the Huskers’ coaches are making sure recruiting isn’t falling by the wayside. That’s especially the case when it comes to one of the top prospects in the 2025 class.

The Huskers have been a bit up and down on Michael Terry III’s radar, but it looks as though they might be up again. He’s talked before about how head coach Matt Rhule does not ‘play fair’ and it seems as if Rhule is once again making things difficult.

Terry recently talked about where his recruiting is these days with 247Sports national analyst Mike Roach. While it’s not clear if the Nebraska football team should be considered the definite front runner, it’s clear they are very much in the race and could make a move soon.

“They are really building something special,” Terry said. “Last season they didn't have a good season, but I really think they can be a lot better.”

There’s a few things that can be taken from those comments. The first is the words have the ring of someone saying goodbye. The pessimist in me wonders if those comments are the top athlete in the country’s way of making the Huskers feel better about losing out.

An optimist, however, could see that Terry is looking at the Cornhuskers as a real contender. A school that is on the upswing and could be contenders sooner, rather than later. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where he’s going, but it’s not the first time he’s lavished praise on Nebraska.

One big bonus is that quartebrack Dylan Raiola and Terry have struck up a real friendship. That can’t hurt. That’s one of the reasons Terry recently came back to Lincoln to get one more look at what the Huskers have to offer.

Terry originally planned to pick his school by the end of the summer. That would have boded quite well for the Texas Longhorns. However, he now believes things might get pushed to the fall. Perhaps that’s a good thing for Nebraska football.
