Former Nebraska wideout Isaiah Neyor's first attempt to make an NFL roster didn't go all that well. However, his second life might do the trick, as there is more than a little talk that he is impressing the Green Bay Packers' staff this offseason.

The second-year receiver originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie last year before finding his way to Green Bay just three months later. That release by the 49ers was, in fact, quite surprising to some of the team's fans, who felt as though he was showing he was earning a shot to get on the roster in the Bay Area.

While he did land in Green Bay last year, it appears that the former Nebraska wide receiver has shown something special this offseason. It's been enough that the Packers' head coach went out of his way to call out the young speed burner as looking quite a bit better than what he looked like last season.

“I’d say it’s night and day for him,” LaFleur said of Isaiah Neyor last week. “He’s really shown a lot of flashes of excellence. He’s another big, long guy that can run. You can never have enough of those guys, especially at that position. I’m excited about what’s to come from training camp for him.”

Granted, Neyor was getting talked about as someone who really stood out last year, right about this time, too. When Neyor was still with the Niners, star tight end George Kittle spoke about the rookie receiver during an appearance on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast:

“He’s a good kid. I like him. He’s a freak. He is really tall. I watched him, he was running a route, and he got like nine and a half yards in two strides. I was like, ‘Holy s–t.’ It was insane. We watched it like 10 times as the tight end room. We’re like, ‘How is he doing this?'”

Granted, Neyor has always looked the part of one of the better receivers in the sport. So far, he hasn't really cashed in on that and turned in a really big season, either in the NFL or the college ranks. When he arrived at Nebraska in 2024, head coach Matt Rhule believed he could be a deadly deep threat thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame and his blazing speed.

While with Nebraska, he appeared in 12 games and caught 34 passes for 455 yards and 2 touchdowns. Still, that was a far cry from the kind of numbers he put up in 2021 with Wyoming. That season, he appeared in 13 games, caught 44 passes for 878 yards, averaged 20 yards per reception, and found the endzone 12 times.
