Former Nebraska football star Isaiah Neyor wasn't out of a job for too long.
Just two days after being cut by the San Francisco 49ers, he's headed north. Way north. To the NFC North and the Green Bay Packers. It certainly seems like there are worse landing spots for a speed burner wide receiver that NFL scouts have liked quite a bit since he first showed off what he could do at the NFL Combine.
Isaiah Neyor signs with the Green Bay Packers and joins Jordan Love’s offense after Nebraska football career
The Packers announced earlier this week that the former Nebraska football wideout signed with the team following the franchise's decision to place offensive tackle Travis Glover on injured reserve. Neyor originally signed with San Francisco following the NFL draft in April, but was waived by the 49ers on Monday. Neyor went unclaimed on waivers, allowing the Packers to freely sign the former Husker. The former Wyoming and Texas receiver will wear No. 80 for Green Bay.
Neyor now joins a receiver room filled with weapons for returning starting quarterback Jordan Love. Neyor will battle players like Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and others in order to rise up the depth chart.
The receiver also joins former Husker and defensive back Omar Brown as both contend to make the Packers' 2025 53-man roster. The two were never teammates, but they can at least discuss guys who played on both teams, as Neyor arrived in Lincoln one season after Brown departed in 2023.
After stints at Wyoming and then Texas, Isaiah Neyor joined the Nebraska football team last year. He played in 12 games, starting 9 contests for the Huskers and leading the Nebraska football team with 5 receiving touchdowns. Neyor finished second on the team with 455 receiving yards on 34 receptions, including a 6-catch, 121 receiving yard start in the 2024 season-opener against UTEP.
