One homegrown former Nebraska football player has found his new home. And as it turns out, he’ll be able to stick in the FBS with a team that could make some noise in Conference USA.

Isaiah McMorris announced on social media he’d picked Missouri State as his next spot. He joins the Bears just as they’re set to make the jump from the FCS level.

The former Nebraska football star will have at least four years to play for the Bears as he only appeared in one game last season for the Huskers. McMorris made his college debut against UTEP where he played one snap and didn’t get a target or a reception.

Ex-Nebraska football wide receiver finds new home

The 5-foot-10 receiver will get a real shot to start with Missouri state as its star pass patcher Hunter Wood graduated and the team’s second leading receiver Jmariyae Robinson went into the portal. McMorris joins Stetson transfer receiver Ronnel Johnson who picked the Bears in mid-December.

McMorris was one of three Bellevue West players who all signed with the Huskers in the 2024 class. He and fellow receiver Dae’Vonn Hall both picked the same school with quarterback Daniel Kaelin

All three redshirted in 2024 and all three entered the portal when it opened this offseason. Kaelin ended up picking the Virginia Cavaliers. Hall is still in the portal and is now the last man standing of the three as far as picking his next landing spot.

McMorris is one of five former Nebraska football wide receivers who entered the portal this season. He, Hall, Malachi Coleman, Isaiah Neyor, and Jaylen Lloyd all went looking for greener pastures. Coleman landed at Minnesota and Lloyd picked Oklahoma State. Neyor has pulled his name out of the portal and has also pulled out of the NFL Draft but it’s not clear if he plans on being a Husker in 2025.
