While the football season has started for several future members of the Nebraska football program, one commit is having to sit out for now.

Bellevue West wide receiver Isaiah McMorris is expected to have himself quite the career when he graduates to the Nebraska football program. Of course, before he gets there, more than a few Nebraska football fans were looking forward to seeing what he did in his senior year.

For now, those fans are going to have to wait a bit. That’s because Isaiah McMorris is nursing a bit of an injury that’s kept him out of Bellevue West’s first two games of the 2023 season.

The good news is that one of the Bellevue Two commits to the Huskers doesn’t appear to be suffering from a severe injury. However, what his coach called a “hamstring injury”  has had him sitting out the season so far.

KETV Sports reporter Ellie French caught sight of the Nebraska football commit walking around the field prior to the Thunderbirds game on Friday and it did indeed look like he had a bit of a hitch in his giddyup.

It was also worth noting that he was walking around while his teammates were warming up for the game, so clearly he’s making sure that his hamstring injury heals up before he tests it out.

Nebraska football commit’s absence felt

McMorris, along with quarterback Daniel Kaelin and fellow pass catcher Dae’vonn Hall are all playing one final season before they head to Lincoln to begin their college career. However, it’s possible the absence of McMorris is one of the reasons the Thunderbirds got off to a bit of a rocky start.

While Bellevue West won its season opener against Creighton Prep, they suffered a 25-7 loss to Omaha North on Friday. Obviously, McMorris doesn’t completely solve the offensive struggles the team met with this weekend, but it’s a safe bet they would have done a bit better with the future Nebraska football player in the lineup.
