Over the last few weeks, the Nebraska football team has been battling several SEC schools to keep its best commits. When it comes to defensive back Corey Hadley, it looks like the Huskers won the battle.
Hadley originally planned to take an official visit to the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend to watch them take on the Oklahoma Sooners. That visit seemed like very good news, considering Hadley had said before that he really had to listen if Kirby Smart and Co. came calling. However, Hadley changed his plans, didn’t take the visit, and now appears locked in with the Cornhuskers just a little over two months before signing day.
Hadley had already visited Athens earlier this month, and it felt like Nebraska was officially losing its grip on the defensive back if he’d taken another visit last weekend. He recently reportedly told On3’s Chad Simmons that he talked it over with his family and decided it wasn’t worth taking another trip.
Hadley also pointed out that Nebraska has worked hard to show him how important he is to head coach Matt Rhule’s staff. While the talented defender didn’t say it officially, his comments made it sound like he was essentially shutting down his recruitment.

Corey Hadley Jr. is a 4-star safety in the 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety plays for Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia. is ranked as the No. 147 player in the 2027 class, the No. 11 safety, and the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia, according to the latest 247 Composite Rankings.
Nebraska has fought off a ton of suitors over the last year for Hadley as he’s accumulated nearly 40 scholarship offers during his recruitment. In addition to Nebraska and Georgia, he has offers from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida, and UC, among many others. The Gators were another program making a late push for Hadley, but he rebuffed them in the same manner that he did with Georgia.
Hadley has been committed to the Huskers since April, but Georgia was always going to be the toughest competition. The Bulldogs are the in-state program and clearly tugged at his heartstrings a bit.
It’s a safe bet that when Hadley talked about canceling the visit to the Bulldogs, he got his family’s blessing to go to Nebraska. Now the Huskers and their fans will just be biting their nails until he signs on the dotted line on December’s National Signing Day.
