The Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s basketball team unveiled a challenging non-conference schedule late last week. The Huskers open their 11-game slate on November 2 against San Jose State, then stay home for their first returning postseason tournament qualifier, Western Illinois, on Saturday, Nov. 7. WIU faced North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this past spring. NU completes its season-opening home stand against North Carolina A&T on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Nebraska then hits the road for the first time to face Kansas on November 14. After a brief stop back home to face Mount Saint Mary's for the first time in school history on Tuesday, Nov. 17, the Huskers will travel to Omaha for their annual clash with Creighton on Saturday, Nov. 21.
The Cornhuskers return to PBA for a pair of games against Summit League teams, Kansas City (November 24) and Omaha (December 5). Games against North Dakota (December 8) and Texas A&M (December 12) will wrap up home non-conference play for the Huskers, before they journey to the Chase Center in San Francisco to clash with California on Sunday, Dec. 20. After the Christmas break, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will open their always difficult Big Ten schedule.
Addison Williams gets another DB commit for Nebraska football
On Sunday night, the Huskers got a big surprise commitment from defensive back Brennan Drummond. Drummond, from North Carolina, committed to the Huskers after a whirlwind recruitment and an official visit last weekend.
He picked NU over Power 4 schools like Georgia, and while he’s just rated as a 3-star prospect, it’s clear his talent matches well with what Williams and defensive coordinator Rob Aurich want to do with a revamped Black Shirts unit.
Drummond becomes the 20th overall commit for NU’s 2027 class and the fifth defensive back, joining Tory Pittman, Corey Hadley, Bryce Williams, and Jailen Hill. He's also the second commit in this class from North Carolina, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have tallied, joining running back Amir Brown.
More Nebraska Cornhuskers news
- June 20 marked arguably the most talent-rich unofficial visitor list NU has ever hosted, and that star power was on full display throughout the afternoon. The Huskers' second annual Battle of the Boneyard 7-on-7 tournament was forced indoors due to weather, but that didn't stop hundreds of Husker fans from packing the Hawks Championship Center. Nebraska took full advantage of the final recruiting weekend of June, extending scholarship offers to more than 16 prospects who attended the Battle of the Boneyard and the Big Man Camp.
- Late last week, Trae Taylor showed off his skills in a 7-on-7 tournament among the best high schools in the area. After beating a Council Bluffs school, the young quarterback claimed he would never lose to Iowa again, and, of course, that sparked quite the backlash on the internet.
- One big negative from the Battle of the Boneyard was when the Nebraska Cornhuskers showed off the uniforms they’ll play in this season. Quite a few Husker fans didn’t like the look and some even went over the top in their criticism, somehow tying how much they didn’t like them with head coach Matt Rhule’s ability to keep his job after this season.
