One drawback of the Nebraska football team's recent recruiting success is that commits like Corey Hadley will be wooed by some of the biggest and best teams in the country. Unfortunately, when the Georgia Bulldogs did start wooing him, the 4-star defensive back didn’t exactly shut the door in their face.
In fact, not only did he not send Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and Co. packing; Hadley packed his bags and took an unofficial visit to Georgia for the Bulldogs’ 70-20 win over Western Kentucky. Worse, the vaunted defender seems genuinely interested in flipping to the SEC school just a few months before signing day.
“With this being a big decision, it can never be over until it’s really over,” Hadley told On3 Monday. “You’ve got to think that’s always the hometown team. You’ve just got to keep your options open. With me being from Georgia, I have to be interested.”
Hadley isn’t the only Nebraska commit who has seen new recruiting pushes over the last few weeks. The difference is that while offensive lineman Timi Aliu has visited Florida and Florida State, he’s come back both times saying he’s still 100% committed to the Huskers. “You’ve got to keep your options open” is a far cry from “no way am I decommitting.”
Nebraska football faces serious flip threat as Georgia pushes for Corey Hadley
With the Bulldogs seemingly making some inroads, things look very shaky in Lincoln.
Corey Hadley Jr. is a 4-star prospect in the 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety plays for Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Georgia, hence the Bulldogs being the hometown team. Hadley committed to Nebraska back on April 26, after developing a longstanding relationship with defensive backs coach Addison Williams and choosing the Huskers over a national collection of programs.
Hadley is ranked as the No. 147 player in the 2027 class, the No. 11 player at his safety position, and the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s also one of the highest-ranked commitments in Nebraska’s class.
As a junior in 2025, Hadley recorded 65 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and 2 interceptions while helping Sandy Creek win a state championship. He also contributed offensively, catching 5 passes for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns, averaging 35.2 yards per reception.
Further muddying the waters, Georgia is not the only program that has come on in recent weeks to try to flip Corey Hadley from Nebraska. Florida and Alabama have been in touch as well. It’s clear that, for now, the defensive back is committed to the Huskers, but head coach Matt Rhule and Co. should put on the full-court press if they want to keep him in the fold.
