Is no news from CharMar Brown good news for the Nebraska football program? Husker fans certainly hope so, considering a commitment announcement was supposed to come on Monday, it’s now Tuesday evening and there still hasn’t been any finality to his recruitment.
The reason why the North Dakota State running back’s lack of announcement could be good news for the Cornhuskers is that the latest recruiting analyst predictions were solidly in the corner of the Cal Bears. That despite there were early signals that the fight was coming down to NU and the Miami Hurricanes.
Nebraska football may not be out of the race for CharMar Brown just yet
In the past, at this point, we’d be hoping that Nebraska was busy blowing up his phone and once again pointing out that he’s got ties to the state while positing how wonderful it would be if he was coming “home.” These days, if there is a last minute fight behind the scenes, it’s all about coming up with a bigger NIL bag.
It is of course, possible that no new is just no news. But considering how many recruiting analysts seemed to think Brown was pulling the trigger on Monday, it sure feels as if there’s been some sort of development.
Common sense says that if there’s movement behind the scenes, it could be coming from Miami more than Nebraska. The Hurricanes were going as hard in on the 1,000 yard rusher as the Huskers were.
Either way, at this point, it feels as though the timeline that so many thought the Creighton Prep product was on doesn’t seme to exist anymore. And if that doesn’t exist, the idea that everyone knew where he was going would seem to be obsolete as well.
The Nebraska football team should, at the very least be looking to use whatever extra time is at their disposal to make their case one more time. CharMar Brown appears to be the kind of talent Matt Rhule, EJ Barthel and company see as a must get. So they should make sure they do.
