The Nebraska football team is busy getting ready for the Pinstripe Bowl but it’s never too early to start looking at what might be in 2025. Especially considering the excitement that surrounds several players returning for a squad that is going bowling for the first time since the 2016 season.

There’s plenty of hype to go around, but it should shock nobody that the most hype when it comes to the Huskers surrounds Dylan Raiola. College football analysts believe he could have a very good sophomore season.

In fact, one analyst, Rivals’ Adam Gorney believes that the Nebraska football quarterback could be a legitimate contender for the 2025 Heisman. Raiola was listed among 10 “realistic” options for that award in a recent article by Gorney.

Nebraska football quarterback is ‘realistic’ option for 2025 Heisman trophy

Gorney did say that Raiola is going to need a better supporting cast if he wants to really contend for the trophy next season.

“The former five-star threw for an impressive 2,595 yards in his freshman season but 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions won’t cut it for the Heisman race. On a lot of those throws, Raiola trusted his arm too much and he needs better receivers to be able to make plays.”

“The Huskers added some big-time receivers in four-stars Cortez Mills and Isaiah Mozee and they’re working on others in the portal. Nebraska’s offense might not lend to massive numbers but Raiola has the talent to put up stats if he has the playmakers around him.”

In addition to the two true freshmen Gorney mentioned, the Nebraska football team added a transfer wide receiver in Nyziah Hunter, who hauled down 40 receptions as a freshman. NU is also still after Kentucky pass catcher Dane Key. It seems clear that Dylan Raiola will have some more weapons to throw to in 2025.
