As Ahmad Hudson’s name has started circulating the internet again, the top tight end in the 2027 class is reminding Nebraska fans just why it would be so important to find a way to steal him from LSU. This summer, Hudson has been focusing on the other sport he excels at and is dominating the basketball court this week at the Peach Jam tournament.

The 6-foot-6 center is the No. 28 overall prospect in the cycle in basketball while being the No. 17 prospect in football. The kind of raw ability in both sports is just not seen anymore, and it makes him that much more attractive, even if he’s technically committed to LSU. Despite that pledge, Hudson has said he’s keeping his options open and making sure he’s with the right school before signing in December.

Nebraska continues to look like the right school. If he does want to play both football and basketball, it’s worth pointing out that the Huskers are seemingly in much better shape than the Tigers on the hardcourt. NU is coming off a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament while the Bayou Bengals haven’t made the NCAA Tournament since the 2021-22 season.

Huskers’ head coach Fred Hoiberg has been a key component in Nebraska’s pursuit of Hudson, while new LSU head coach Will Wade has shown interest but hasn’t been nearly as active as his NU counterpart. And now that Hudson is absolutely dominating the hoops world ahead of his senior year, look for Hoiberg to continue to stress just how well he’d fit in.

Ahmad Hudson’s Peach Jam dominance strengthens Nebraska football’s recruiting pitch

Playing for JL3 Elite at Peach Jam this week, Hudson is looking like he could rocket up the prospect rankings in basketball this winter. On Friday, he put up 30 points, 11 rebounds, six steals, four assists and two blocks vs. Team CP3. He caught the attention of The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, among others.

“Watching Ahmad Hudson, the No. 1 tight end who is committed to LSU, and this kid could play hoop for anyone in the country,” Goodman wrote on X. “Plays so damn hard, incredible athlete and great hands. Can’t even imagine how good he’s gonna be for Lane Kiffin.”

Across four games this week, Hudson has averaged 21.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. He’s shooting 57 percent from the floor and is leading Peach Jam in rebounds.

Last season, Hudson averaged 19.7 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game during his 2025-26 junior basketball season, leading Ruston to a 23-4 record and the Louisiana Division I Non-Select state championship game. He finished the title game with 32 points, 24 rebounds, seven blocks and four steals in a 63-60 loss to Zachary.

That was after he lit up the scoreboard on the football field, where he caught 61 passes for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those numbers allowed him to earn first-team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors, and he recorded six receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown in the Louisiana Division I Non-Select championship game.

As Ahmad Hudson keeps showing what he can do in both sports, Nebraska has kept the pressure up and at least made him think there’s a chance the grass is greener in Lincoln than Baton Rouge. Now it’s just about closing the deal.
