Ahmad Hudson is still committed to LSU, but that hasn’t stopped the Nebraska football team from continuing to fight for the elite tight end prospect’s services. Despite still clinging to his pledge to the Tigers, he’s also not quite calling his recruitment closed. That has to be good news for a Huskers team that was considered one of his top teams for months.
Speaking to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, Hudson tried to calm LSU fans' nerves by saying he’s still “solid” to the Bayou Bengals. However, he’s still also weighing his options and making sure that the program he’s committed to is definitely the right choice.
"We're just taking our time with everything," Hudson told Spiegelman earlier this month. “Taking our time” certainly sounds like he might officially be a commit to Lane Kiffin’s squad, but it’s still an open battle. Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule would have to be happy with that.
It was just a few weeks ago that Hudson took an official visit to Lincoln to get another look at what the Huskers have to offer. At the time, many reports surfaced from Baton Rouge that the Tigers’ staff knew he was planning to take the official visit and were fine with it because they were confident he wouldn’t change his mind.

Nebraska football continues push for LSU tight end commit Ahmad Hudson
However, as he wrapped up his visit and once again talked very positively about the Nebraska football program, reports began to surface that the SEC school’s coaches were, in fact, not happy at all that he had taken the trip and were at least a little concerned he might eventually honor the siren song of the Cornhuskers.
It’s not hard to figure out why this has been such a pitched battle for Ahmad Hudson. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound 5-star tight end from Ruston High School (Ruston, LA), is ranked as the No. 18 player in the 2027 class, the No. 1 player at his position, and the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
In addition to Nebraska and LSU, the two-sport star who is almost as highly touted in basketball as he is in football, has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Houston, Kentucky, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Syracuse, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC, among many others.
Hudson finished his 2025 junior season at Ruston with 61 receptions for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 games.
One way in which Nebraska continues to stay in the running, despite his commitment, is that it is recruiting almost as hard on the hard court as on the football field. In fact, several members of the Nebrasketball program are currently in Las Vegas watching Hudson play in a summer tournament. Considering the season Fred Hoiberg’s squad had this past season, they are looking to cash in on the momentum of the program’s best campaign in the program’s history.
Perhaps the best indicator that Ahmad Hudson is still very much considering Nebraska is the whispers that while he doesn’t currently have a fall visit planned to Lincoln, he’s not shutting things down on that front. If the Huskers could get him into Memorial Stadium for another game day, LSU coaches could really start sweating. Either way, this seems like a recruitment that won’t truly end until Signing day in December.
