This is what you call making a serious splash out of nowhere. That's right, Nebraska and Matt Rhule have stunned us all by bringing in 5-star tight end Ahmad Hudson for an official visit. At one point, it seemed like Nebraska was in the driver's seat to land him, but the playmaker committed to LSU instead. This battle is far from over, though.
Massive Nebraska official visit weekend grows with surprise 5-star visitor
Getting Hudson on campus for this OV is major for the Cornhuskers, as the 6-6, 240-pounder is giving Rhule a fair shot in trying to flip him. At the same time, Rhule is also getting plenty of help from current pledges in trying to turn Hudson's head this weekend. The list includes 4-star quarterback commit Trae Taylor and 4-star wideout commit Tay Ellis.

Nebraska and Matt Rhule are hoping to steal Ahmad Hudson away from Lane Kiffin
That cryptic post from Ellis sure has plenty of people talking. While he didn't mention Hudson or anything like that, the speedster sure has our attention. Then there's of course Taylor, who is quickly becoming a Nebraska fan favorite before he even makes the move to Lincoln.
Fresh off a head-turning showing at the Elite 11, Taylor is now putting a bit of a full-court press on Hudson as well. There's no doubt that Taylor is trying to convince Hudson that Nebraska is the place to be, as the two could work wonders together in getting the program back to an elite level. Could you imagine those two making plays with one another? It'd be incredible.
This of course is not going to be easy for Rule, however, as Kiffin worked his magic to land Hudson in the first place. With that said, we can't stress just how crucial it is that Nebraska managed to get Hudson in town for this official visit. The red carpet is obviously being rolled out, with the hope that Hudson will be given something serious to think about.
According to the 247Sports Composite, the Ruston, La. product is ranked five stars, the No. 1 tight end in the country, No. 3 player out of Louisiana and the No. 18 prospect nationally for the 2027 class. Throughout his recruitment, he has picked up a head-turning 36 offers, with the likes of Nebraska, LSU, Alabama and many others putting a tender on the table.
He committed to Kiffin and the Tigers on May 3, which broke plenty of hearts in Lincoln. With so much time left until the Early Signing Period gets here in December, though, there's more than enough time for Rhule to get things over the line. Will it happen?
It's hard to say, but the wheels have been put in motion. It obviously helps out too knowing that Taylor and Ellis are rolling up their sleeves a bit to do some work behind the scenes for Rhule and his staff. Will Nebraska end up pulling this off? It's hard to say, but you've got to love the effort that's being recorded to land a haymaker on Kiffin like this.
