Despite Ahmad Hudson continuing to count as an official commit to LSU, it seems as if there’s even more space where Nebraska can squeeze in and steal him away. In fact, considering he’s planning on taking some gameday visits this fall, it certainly feels like he’s committed in title only.
On Tuesday afternoon, 247Sports analyst Tom Loy reported that while the Bayou Bengals are still fighting hard to keep the top tight end in the 2027 class, their efforts might not be working their magic the way they did when he pulled the trigger on his pledge earlier this spring.
“The Tigers are working hard to hold onto his commitment, but I fully expect him to take visits elsewhere this fall,” Loy wrote on Twitter. “Most notably a return trip to Nebraska.”
It’s hardly the first time that there have been rumblings that Hudson might not be totally locked down with LSU. Hudson himself hinted this summer that he could still take a look around. While he didn’t say that he was thinking about switching schools, he did say that in this day and age it would be silly of him not to keep his options open. After all, if the roles were reversed and the Tigers suddenly got into position to land someone better than the tight end (however unlikely that might be), they wouldn’t hesitate to move on, even if he was committed.

Ahmad Hudson fall visit could give Nebraska football another chance at LSU flip
It’s not as though a prospect this highly sought after, making sure he made the right call, is unheard of. The surprise is that everyone was expecting this top-tier recruit to put LSU in another recruiting race with state-neighbors Texas or Ole Miss, but this time, it's a competitor from up North.
His only other visit, other than LSU, was on June 5 to Nebraska. It’s clear that he has real feelings for the Huskers and has struck up friendships with NU commits Trae Taylor and Tay Ellis. The star quarterback and wide receiver, respectively, have worked hard to get him to flip and see that he’s better off coming to Lincoln and teaming up with them.
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule has also been open about not giving up on Hudson, as he's been the leading force of the tug-of-war over the talented tight end. Hudson himself isn't putting up much of a fight for the possibility of swaying his decision.
"We're just taking our time with everything," Hudson told Rivals earlier this summer.
It’s not hard to see why there’s such a pitched battle for the dual-sport star.
The 6-foot-6, 245-pound five-star tight end from Ruston High School (Ruston, LA) is ranked as the consensus No. 19 player in the 2027 class, the No. 1 player at his tight end position and the No. 3 player in the state of Louisiana. Hudson caught 61 passes for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns during his 2025 junior football season at Ruston. He finished the state championship game with six receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown and earned first-team MaxPreps Junior All-America honors.
On the basketball court, Hudson averaged 19.7 points, 13.4 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 59.1 percent from the field during the 2025-26 season. He helped Ruston finish 26-4 and reach the Louisiana Division I Non-Select state championship game, earning MaxPreps Louisiana Player of the Year honors.
While his plans to take a visit to Nebraska this fall aren’t official or set in stone, it looks like the Cornhuskers will get at least one more shot to swing him away from Lane Kiffin and LSU.
