It wasn’t that long ago that Nebraska Cornhuskers star Harper Murray seemed like she wanted to fade into the woodwork when she wasn’t on the volleyball court. After a year of trials and tribulations and seemingly coming out the other end stronger, she decided to reach out to Husker faithful on Monday night to do something really nice.
Murray posted on X that she wanted to give away a couple of extra tickets to any little girls around the Ord area who wanted to come to Nebraska’s exhibition volleyball match against South Dakota State. Needless to say there were many, many takers and the Husker star was looking like a real hero to girls who couldn’t otherwise get their hands on the ultra popular tickets.
Nebraska Cornhuskers feeling the pinch of House vs NCAA settlement
Nebraska Cornhuskers football head coach Matt Rhule has been trying to get fans and player to brace for it for the last six months, but on Monday, it felt like the program was dealing with its first portal depature because of House vs NCAA.
Part of the settlement is due to limit roster sizes to 105 players and when kicker Nico Ottomanelli announced he was transferring, his family made it clear they didn’t want to leave. With two other kickers still on the roster, it feels like the redshirt freshman is the first specific casualty of the roster crunch.
Jalyn Gramstad a HERO winner
Jalyn Gramstad, the backup quarterback who almost never came to Nebraska until he took part in one of Matt Rhule’s post-grad camps took home one of the highest off the field honors that a student athlete can win at NU.
On Sunday night, he was named one of this year’s Sam Foltz 27 HERO Leadership Award recipients. As the name of the honor alludes to, it takes a special level of leadership for players to get this and it’s especially impressive that someone who has been so under the radar publicly is making this kind of impact behind the scenes with his teammates.
