Four-star quarterback Trae Taylor is one of the highest-rated players in Nebraska's star-studded class of 2027.
Picking the Cornhuskers over the likes of the Michigan Wolverines, LSU Tigers, and other powerhouse programs, there is a lot of excitement around Taylor joining Matt Rhule's squad next year.
Taylor's mindset for once he sets foot in Lincoln is only adding to that excitement.
"I want to bring Nebraska back again," Taylor said recently. "Obviously, in order to bring Nebraska back, you have to win, but I think the biggest thing is the culture. It's a blue-chip school, everybody knows about it, everybody knows about it from the 90s..."
Trae Taylor is ready to do what Dylan Raiola fell short of
Of course, former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola shared similar sentiments about putting the Cornhuskers back on the map, and now he's playing backup quarterback for the Oregon Ducks.
However, Taylor even addressed the fact that people always say they want to bring programs back, but said that he believes he and Rhule have the right mindsets to actually do it.
"Let's make it relevant in the 2000s," Taylor continued. "I think Coach Rhule has given me a grade lead-off for that race, and I've just gotta run with it now."
Taylor is one of eight commitments in Nebraska's class of 2027, alongside fellow four-star safeties Tory Pittman and Corey Hadley, as well as four-star running back Amir Brown. The class ranks 14th in the nation and fourth in the Big Ten, both massive improvements over the Huskers' class of 2026.
Taylor became the starting quarterback for his high school varsity team in 2025, playing in 11 games and completing nearly 82 percent of his pass attempts.
Throughout the season, he earned 3,571 passing yards and 38 touchdowns on 205 completions, throwing just three interceptions. He earned an additional 633 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
He has since transferred from Carmel High School in Illinois to play his senior season of varisty football in the state of Nebraska, cementing his dedication to the Cornhuskers.
