Now that Rocco Spindler is officially a member of the Nebraska football program, it looks like he knows exactly how to ingratiate himself to his new fan base.

Granted, just coming to Lincoln will go a long way toward making Husker fans happy. While the recruitment of Spindler was relatively short, it still had plenty of twists and turns. There were a couple of teams that seemed like they were going to be the front runners. Even Michigan was thought to be in the lead for a short time and the Wolverines didn’t even get a visit from the Detroit native.

Not choosing Michigan will also go a long way towards convincing Nebraska football fans to like Spindler. But it’s the message he sent when he officially announced he committed to the Huskers that’s going to make NU fans love him almost immediately. And that’s aside from him posting a couple of pictures that appear to be from when he was a wee child, all dressed up in Cornhuskers gear.

New Nebraska football commit sends message to fans

When Spindller announced his choice of schools on Sunday, he announced the Huskers in exactly the right way.

“Rhule No. 1: Run the Damn Ball,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Run the damn ball” has long been a refrain of Husker fans who thought that the current era of the program has turned to the air just a little too much.

That a massive new Nebraska football player (both in actual size and what it means for the program) is already espousing that philosophy has to be a good sign.
